The interview about my grandfather

My grandpa was born in august, 11th 1939. In his childhood, he liked to climb trees and play in the stream. My grandpa didn’t really like to go to school. Once, he played truant and went catching fish and shrimps in the river. After the happy moment, grandpa was punished by my great-grandmother. Besides, they also played with toys made by themselves such as kites, bamboo guns. Can you imagine that? And there was also a big problem about their education. Because of the Eight year Sino-Japanese War, schools became stations for armies. They had to change schools from time to time. Still, there wasn’t any playground on the campus. In school, my grandpa was at home in art. His worst subject was Chinese. He only graduated from the elementary school. In the sixth grade, he met my grandma and they fell in love, but could only date secretly, because the society wasn’t that open. Few years later, they got married and have four kids. They went camping and swimming every weekend. I ‘m really envious of that.

The 228 events also took place in my grandpa’s childhood. Their lives were really inconvenient. My grand- grand parents had to take part-time jobs to earn money for their children. The society was totally different from the past. My grandpa was a newsboy that delivered the newspapers from door to door. Nowadays, children can enjoy their childhood happily. We don’t have to worry about the “money” problems.

Now, my grandpa is a life guard having a certification from International Rescue Instructors Association. And he is also participating in the Red Cross. The 921 earthquake was atrocious event happened in 1999. He still went there to give them some help. He was commended by the president Chen Shuibian. It was a great honor. In his free time, he likes riding bicycle, scuba diving and swimming. He’s still healthy though he is about 70 years old! I’m really glad I am his grandchild.

Hope you can enjoy the story! ^ ^
